RE: Presenters needed for the 2010 World War II Teach-In Day

On Tuesday, March 30th, 2010 we will be having our sixth World War II Teach-In Day. This year we will be holding the event at the Wings of Eagles Discovery Center. Volunteers are needed to share their World War II memorabilia and stories. We are seeking WWII veterans as well as people that were on the home front during the confilict. This teach-in day will be the culmination of our World War II unit for the 8th grade social studies program.

Participants are encouraged to bring scrapbooks, ration coupons, V-Mail, newspapers, service stars, pictures, or other mementos that they would be willing to personally share with our students in small group settings.

It is our hope to recruit 100 presenters to share their stories and information. This will help our students to understand this important period in American History. Refreshments will be provided and the event will run during the morning of the 30th (exact times will be determined at a later date).

If you know someone who would be willing to share their WWII experiences with our students, please contact Mrs. Wigsten at 739-6357 ext. 3704 (HMS) or by email

Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

8th Grade Social Studies Department
