In many ways I am a true 21st Century Christian. I was raised in and served my first church as a Children’s Minister in Southern Baptist congregations. I served and was ordained in my second church as a Children’s Minister in an American Baptist congregation. I then attended the United Methodist Church before finding my home with the Presbyterians of PC(USA). I felt God’s call to Pastoral Ministry, followed the steps to become a Minister of Word and Sacrament (Teaching Elder) and have been at First Presbyterian Church of Big Flats since February 2019.
I am told I eat like an 8 year old because I really don’t like vegetables all that much – give me fried chicken and macaroni and cheese! I am a Trekkie and a Star Wars geek.
In addition to ministry positions, I served as a deputy prosecutor and then a defense attorney in Southern Indiana.
One of my favorite Bible passages is Micah 6:1-8. Micah 6:8 says, “He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” This verse was a favorite before I was an attorney and before I learned that the larger passage is a Divine Lawsuit. I definitely believe God has a sense of humor!
